ABOUT ME

I grew up in rural Nevada and received my MFA in Creative Writing from Cornell University and my BA in Cultural Anthropology from Portland State University. I have taught writing and literature to students at Cornell University, Ipek University in Turkey, and Cornell’s branch campus in Qatar, where I directed the Writing Center. I’ve also taught gifted teens in residential programs at Northwestern University’s Center for Talent Development and at the Takatuf Scholars Program in Oman.

My teaching draws on my social science background, commitment to equity and inclusion, love for working across disciplines, and firm belief in teaching holistically, compassionately, and wholeheartedly. I love helping my students surprise themselves with what they can achieve, and believe strongly in the importance of mentoring them as the complex individuals they are and are growing to be.
